School celebrates Chinese New Year

By in Education

YOUNGSTERS in Heathfield have been learning about the exciting festivities associated with the Chinese New Year.

The pupils at St Catherine’s C of E Primary School discovered that each new year is named after one of the 12 animals that raced across the Chinese Emperor’s river.

They even created nodding roosters in line with the theme for 2017.

A river was created in the school’s garden and the children had to find a way to cross it using two stepping stones and not getting their feet wet.

Paper lantern making also took place and in a bid to bring good fortune, the youngsters painted Chinese words on red paper.
