A NEW head of sixth form has been appointed at Newton Abbot College.
Coventry-raised Sam Grierson has taken charge following a remarkable career in education and Government organisation settings.
She studied psychology and sociology at Leicester University before returning to Coventry for seven years working in primary education as an early years’ specialist.
Miss Grierson has been head of psychology at two schools, and in 2006 received the advanced skills teacher awards, presented to her for excellence in classroom teaching practise.
Moving away from the classroom, she worked for Qualifications and Curriculum Development Agency, helping to maintain and develop the national curriculum before becoming assistant principal at Cabot Learning Federation.
Furthering her own studies she completed a masters degree, focusing on gender difference in post 16 education.
She said: ‘I am passionate about delivering an enriching post 16 educative experience for all learners at Newton Abbot College.’
