A YOUNG man is fighting for his life after a hit and run accident in Kingsteignton over the weekend.

The 25-year-old pedestrian casualty, from Kingsteignton, is being treated at the intensive care unit in Plymouth’s Derriford Hospital after being struck by a small black or silver car in Gestridge Road, off Exeter Road, at about 12.10am on Saturday.

Police this morning (mon) issued an appeal for information from anyone who may have seen the collision.

The small car was seen travelling towards Fore Street at the time of the accident. It did not stop at the scene, police confirmed.

A spokesman said: ‘If you know the identity of the driver, or where the car can be found, police are urging the public to get in touch as soon as possible.’

Anyone able to help should ring police on 110, quoting log 53 of April 8.

Paramedics attended the scene - later sealed off by police (pictured) - at 12.50am.

The victim, taken to Derriford by land ambulance, had suffered serious head injuries and a suspected fractured leg.
