A 20-YEAR-OLD man from Newton Abbot appeared in court today on charges linked to the death of a 15-year-old girl who collapsed in the town’s Bakers Park and later died in hospital.

Jacob Khanlarian, 20, entered no plea before Plymouth magistrates this morning on two counts of possession with intent to supply Ecstasy and cannabis.

The tragic teenager, named locally as Leah Kerry from Torquay, suffered an adverse reaction after allegedly taking an unknown substance at the local beauty spot over the weekend.

Paramedics were called to the scene in the early hours of Saturday, taking her to Torbay Hospital where she later died.

Two girls thought to have taken similar substances were taken to hospital as a precaution. Both were later discharged.

Khanlarian was remanded in custody.

He will appear before Exeter Crown Court on August 10.
