Appeal after attack on man

Police in Newton Abbot have appealed for witnesses following an attack on a man early today (thurs).

Officers were called to Ashburton Road between 1.45am and 2am after reports of a disturbance.

Paramedics at the scene treated a man in his fifties for serious chest injuries before taking him to Torbay and then Derriford hospitals.

The victim was walking with dogs at the time of the attack.

Police are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time or who may have heard a disturbance. Call 101 quoting reference JN/12/1829.
