A38 junction proposals up for discussion
Friday, 13 July 2012
CONGESTION: Heavy traffic at the junction into the Heathfield Industrial Estate. Building new homes will only add to the problems, opponents claim.
Public consultation will start next week on proposals to improve the Drumbridges roundabout and access to Heathfield Industrial Estate.
Thousands of new homes planned for the district and other developments emerging in the new Core Strategy are expected to worsen the existing congestion at the A38 junction.
Devon County Council is seeking views on its proposals, which include a new footbridge across the trunk road as well as improvements to the junctions and their facilities for pedestrians and cyclists.
Highways supremo Cllr Stuart Hughes said: ‘The proposals which are being put forward aim to relieve the current levels of congestion around Drumbridges.
