THERE’S an array of musicals lined up at Plymouth’s Theatre Royal to keep all ardent lovers of the genre happy this summer.

Only Fools and Horses The Musical is currently playing at the venue , but a host of family favourites and new works are just waiting in the wings for their turn on the boards.

The smash-hit London Palladium production of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat opens at the venue for a run between June 24 and 28 .

The multi award-winning show has been performed hundreds of thousands of times including multiple runs in the West End and on Broadway, international tours in over 80 countries worldwide and has become one of the world’s most beloved family musicals.

Joe McElderry and Joseph alumni will play Pharoah, Christina Bianco will star as Narrator and Adam Filipe as Joseph.

It’s followed in July by the West End mega-hit TINA – The Tina Turner Musical, which visits TRP as part of its first ever UK and Ireland tour.

Set to the pulse-pounding soundtrack of her iconic hits, including The Best, What’s Love Got To Do With It?, Private Dancer and River Deep, Mountain High, discover the heart and soul behind the Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll.

Experience her inspiring story live on stage as this exhilarating celebration reveals the untold story of a woman who dared to dream fiercely, shatter barriers and defy the bounds of age, gender and race to conquer the world against all odds. The show runs from July 1 to 12

Grab a posse for five days from July 19 because the whip crackin’ musical comedy classic Calamity Jane is a rollin’ on over the plains to the venue. Based on the much-loved Doris Day movie, this plumb fancy new production stars the multi-award-winning West End actor and singer Carrie Hope Fletcher (Cinderella, Les Misérables).

With the sure-fire classic songs The Deadwood Stage (Whip-Crack-Away), The Black Hills of Dakota, Just Blew in from the Windy City, and the Oscar-winning Secret Love, The Watermill Theatre’s Production of Calamity Jane, is directed by Nikolai Foster, co directed and choreographed by Nick Winston and features musical supervision by Olivier, Grammy and Tony Award winner Catherine Jayes.

At the end of July the much-anticipated touring production of Hamilton visits the theatre for a six week season

Hamilton is the story of America’s Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, an immigrant from the West Indies who became George Washington’s right-hand man during the Revolutionary War and helped shape the very foundations of the America we know today. The score blends hip-hop, jazz, blues, rap, R&B and Broadway – the story of America then, as told by America now.

Hamilton has book, music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, is directed by Thomas Kail, with choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler and musical supervision and orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire and is based on Ron Chernow‘s biography of Alexander Hamilton.
