IT was pleasing to find that the photo loaned by Chris Melhuish of the WBB Mines Rescue team from the early 1970s featured a couple of weeks ago attracted a lot of interest from former WBB employees, writes Steve Harris.

This week I feature another photograph with a mining theme loaned to me by Advertiser reader Maurice Sharland.

The picture dates from 1961 and features a scene from the Kingsteignton 1250 Years Celebration’s carnival pageant.

The carnival floats depicted themes from the history of the then village and WBB’s float depicted old and new methods of mining clay with reconstructions of the methods set up on the back of a WBB lorry.
