NEARLY 400 people have applied for jobs at the new Waitrose store in Teignmouth.

They are seeking about 100 positions, and the management of the upmarket supermarket described the response in a three-week period, as 'phenomenal'.

The roles were advertised for the first time on December 20, and after an overwhelming response of 384 applications, the window closed on January 12.
