A judge has ordered a psychiatric report on a man who has admitted carrying out three armed robberies in Devon.

Keith Shaw was armed with a gas-powered air pistol when he held up a Domino’s pizza shop and a convenience store in Torbay and robbed a house in Bovey Tracey.

A female employee was robbed of £1,468 in the raid on Domino’s at St Marychurch, Torquay on September 24.

The incident followed an earlier robbery at the Best One store in Marldon Road, Paignton on September 18 where two men were robbed of a rucksack, cash, a phone and tobacco with a total value of around £1,000.

A television, Playstation, phones, two laptops and other items were taken during the raid at Fore Street, Bovey Tracey on August 28 when occupants were also threatened with the Dan Wesson pistol.

Shaw, aged 42, of Kiln Orchard, Highweek, Newton Abbot admitted conspiracy to rob, and possessing a firearm when a prohibited person when he appeared before Judge Geoffrey Mercer, QC, at Exeter Crown Court.

The judge adjourned the case for six weeks to March 10 for a psychiatric report and remanded Shaw in custody.

A second man, William Ryan, aged 49, of Snowberry Close, Paignton, admitted conspiracy to rob but submitted a basis of plea which said he had not been involved in the Domino’s raid.

He was remanded in custody until the same sentence date.
