ARSONISTS are believed to have been behind a Newton Abbot fire which badly damaged two vehicles and partially damaged a store.
Two crews from the town arrived in King Street to find a commercial van and private car well alight after the alarm was raised just before 9pmSunday night.
The flames spread to a storage building housing furniture. None of the contents was affected, although exterior fittings were damaged.
Firefighters wearing breathing gear used a hosereel jet and a main jet to extinguish the flames.
A fire spokesman confirmed that both vehicles were severely damaged while the store suffered five per cent fire damage. A portion of the building was affected by smoke.
The spokesman said the fire appeared to have been started deliberately.
Police had been informed, he added.
Anyone with information should contact officers on 101, quoting log 706 of January 7.
