POLICE searching for a missing 83-year-old man from Teignmouth have found a body in a car at the resort.

Derek Woodley was reported missing last Wednesday with police issuing an appeal for information amid concerns for his welfare.

Officers believe the body found in Bishopsteignton Road near Shaldon Bridge is that of Mr Woodley. Formal identity will be confirmed at an inquest to be opened later this week.

A spokesman said the discovery was made yesterday evening.

Next of kin have been informed as has the South Devon coroner.

The death is not being treated as suspicious.
