POLICE are appealing for help after the theft of tools and gardening equipment worth more than £1,000.

Hedge trimmers, a strimmer, tool boxes and hand tools were taken during a break-in at an outbuilding in Trough Lane, Bovey Tracey.

Thieves forced a bolt and padlock to get inside the building. It is thought they may have used a vehicle to remove the tools, which happened between Saturday, November 14, and Sunday, November 15.

Officers say it may be linked to another burglary at a secure unit in Pottery Road. The industrial storage unit was broke into the same night.

Nothing was taken but damage was caused when the security device which locked the unit was broken.

PCSO Paul Wilson said: ‘It may be these incidents could be linked, as they happened on the same night.

‘I would like to hear from any witnesses or anyone who may have been offered any of the tools for sale.’

Anyone with information is asked to contact police by calling 101 or email [email protected] and quote crime reference CR/078989/15 for the tools theft and CR/079254 for the Pottery Road storage unit break-in.
