A FIRE crew from Buckfastleigh was one of three crews called out on New Year’s Eve to a fire in a domestic property involving a Christmas tree.
Along with colleagues from Totnes and Paignton stations, plus a supervisory officer, crews found a severe fire involving a Christmas tree in the lounge area of a barn conversion near to Dartington just after 9.00pm.
On arrival at the property crews set to work with two breathing apparatus sets, one hose reel jet and a thermal imaging camera.
A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue spokesman said: “‘Three adults at the scene were treated by Fire and Ambulance Service personnel for the effects of smoke inhalation and minor burns. ‘
‘All three were later conveyed to hospital by land ambulance for treatment and a precautionary check-up.’
Fire crews remained on scene for several hours ensuring the fire was completely out.
In total four breathing apparatus sets, one hose reel jet, a thermal imaging camera, a short extension ladder and small tools were used to extinguish the fire.
It is believed the fire started accidentally.
