FIRE chiefs are probing a blaze outside Newton Abbot involving a pile of more than 100 tyres.
They are trying to establish if the fire, on the Seale-Hayne estate, was the work of arsonists.
Attempts are also being made to trace the landowner.
Two fire crews from the town rushed to Ingsdon Lane late on Saturday night to find the heap of rubber well alight.
Compressed air foam was used to extinguish the blaze which was first spotted at 10.30pm.
Firefighters spent nearly two hours at the scene where hot spots had to be dampened down.
