MULTIPLE fire , ambulance, police units and the Devon Air Ambulance responded to a serious road traffic collision in Newton Abbot earlier this evening (Friday April 7th)

The incident, near Bakers Park on Totnes Road, involved a car and a bus with persons reported trapped.

A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue spokesman said: "Two crews from Newton Abbot, one from Torquay and one from Paignton, were mobilised to Totnes Road in Newton following reports of a female trapped in a car."

"Crews used hydraulic equipment and small tools to extricate the casualty, working alongside paramedics. Crews also used environmental protection equipment to deal with leakages from the vehicles."

The casualty was airlifted to hospital by the Devon Air Ambulance.
