SIX taxi drivers in and around Newton Abbot have had their cabs singled out by a smash and grab attacker.

The four-day blitz by the roving raider is thought to have netted him hundreds of pounds, prompting police to issue security warnings about keeping valuables and money in vehicles.

Two taxis were targeted in Kingsteignton with four attacked in Newton Abbot.

The quartet in Newton Abbot were in Forde Close, Seymour Road, Highweek Road and Gaze Hill.

In Kingsteignton the vehicle victims were in Gestridge Road and Homers Crescent.

Police are not ruling out the possibility that the cab attacks are related to a spate of recent thefts from cars in the area.

The half-dozen taxi hits happened between last Friday and Monday - all of them in the dead of night or early hours.

All six cabbies have reported losing money to the wandering thief, whose antics were caught on CCTV in Highweek Road just after 5am yesterday (mon).

Anyone with information should ring police on 101, quoting CR85818/16.
