A WOMAN was airlifted to hospital after her car overturned on the A38 near Drumbridges over the weekend.
She was taken by Devon Air Ambulance to Plymouth’s Derriford Hospital for treatment to a head injury.
Two children and an elderly male escaped with minor injuries in yesterday’s accident just before 4.30pm.
They were taken by land ambulances to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital at Wonford for a precautionary check-up.
One of the children suffered facial cuts.
No other vehicles were involved in the accident which involved a Swindon-registered VW Golf.
Three ambulances, two rapid response cars, the ambulance helicopter and three fire crews attended the incident together with police units.
The fire crews from Ashburton, Buckfastleigh and Newton Abbot used two sets of cutting gear to free the trapped woman from the wreckage of the vehicle.
The affected southbound carriageway towards Goodstone Cross was reopened five hours after the accident.
