POLICE probing the serial cash grabber targeting taxis in Teignbridge have issued these CCTV images of the suspected culprit in action.
They are anxious to trace the man (pictured) seen emerging from the shadows of a driveway at the top of Newton Abbot’s Highweek Road where £100 was snatched from a Mercedes cab.
Other shots from the security camera - fixed outside the Newtons Free House pub - show the car used during the attack just after 5am on December 5.
Police reckon the vehicle is a silver three-doored Ford Focus registered in 2005.
The victim at the time was disabled cabbie Richard Perring who estimates the crime cost him nearer £400 in lost business while his damaged leased vehicle was repaired.
It’s thought as many as a dozen taxis were plundered by the roving looter who had knowledge of where cabbies parked up at home when not on their rounds.
Anyone able to throw more light on the man lurking in the darkness should contact police on 101, quoting crime CR85818.
They can also use the confidential Crimestoppers service on 0800 555111.
