A CHILD was released by Newton Abbot firefighters after accidentally being locked in a car off the Ashburton Road in the town over the weekend.

They used specialist tools to unlock the vehicle in Mill Close and re-unite the child with its parent.

The alarm was raised just before 11.30am on Saturday.
