TWO crews from Newton Abbot and Bovey Tracey, plus a water bowser from Torquay, responded to reports of a barn fire in Chudleigh last night (Friday April 6).

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service had received a call just after 8pm reporting smoke coming from a barn in Market Way and mobilised the appliances and specialist officers to the scene.

A spokesman for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: “On arrival the crews confirmed that there was a small fire within the barn involving two bales of hay. Crews extinguished the fire using a hose reel jet and used a thermal imaging camera to ensure that all hotspots were damped down."

The fire caused damage to the two bales of hay only.
