A MAN was rescued by firefighters after getting stuck on a steep embankment at Chudleigh Rocks yesterday.

Two fire crews from Newton Abbot rushed to the scene where they were able to lead the stranded climber to safety.

The alarm was raised at 11am when the climber could not move any further upwards.

A specialist rescue team from Exmouth was also called to the location.

It emerged the climber had slipped during his ascent but he suffered no injuries in his fall.

He was led down without a hitch by crews using safety lines.
