A LARGE FIRE resulted in part of the Buckland estate in Newton Abbot being cordoned off this evening (Saturday July 22)

Up to six appliances were tackling the blaze that involved the shops in Haldon Rise.

Smoke from the fire was visible from all around the Newton Abbot area.

The small complex of shops includes a laundrette, a cafe, a Co-Op store, post office and a fish and chip shop where the fire is believed to have started just after 8pm.
