A husband and wife are to stand trial accused of running an illegal money lending business from their home in Newton Abbot.
Paul Stretch and his wife Mandy are alleged to have run the business at different times between July 2016 and April this year.
Stretch, aged 59, and his wife, aged 47, both of Twickenham Road, Newton Abbot, both deny unlawfully engaging in a regulated activity without authority by carry out a money lending business.
They both deny further allegations of concealing, transferring, or disguising criminal property and of acquiring or possessing criminal property.
Paul Stretch is accused of carrying out the offences between July 5, 2016 and August 18, 2017. Mandy Stretch is alleged to have taken over his activities and committed the same offences between August 18, 2017 and April 10, 2018.
Judge David Evans adjourned their cases for a trial at Exeter Crown Court on November 12 this year and released both on bail.
Mr William Parkhill, defending, said money received by the couple was payment for legitimate and lawful work rather than repayment of loans.
