A MOTORIST escaped unhurt when his van rolled back 30ft down a bank in Ashburton this morning (Wednesday).

Firefighters used winching gear to recover the vehicle from its point of no return at Home Park just after 11am.

A fire spokesman confirmed the driver, from Paignton, was not injured in the drama.
