TWO young men were detained on suspicion of drugs possession offences in the Newton Abbot area over the weekend.

Both arrests were made at about 2am yesterday - one in a car park at Jetty Marsh and the other in Greenhill Way, Kingsteignton.

Police say the 18-year-old suspect at Jetty Marsh ran off, but was later caught and taken off for questioning about cannabis possession.

The other matter involved alleged cocaine possession by a 19-year-old.

Both men were cautioned.
