FIREFIGHTERS from Dawlish tackled an early hours vehicle fire this morning (Sun Oct 7).

The crew responded to reports of the blaze following calls to fire control in Baton Crescent just after 3am.

A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: “On arrival at the scene crews confirmed one vehicle was well alight and extinguished the fire using 2 breathing apparatus wearers, 1 compressed air foam jet, 1 hose reel jet and a thermal imaging camera.”

Due to a large spillage of fuel the incident commander requested the presence of environmental protection unit from Newton Abbot.

Police were also requested to attend.
