A 79-YEAR-OLD woman was injured in a road accident in Newton Abbot this morning.

The casualty suffered back and chest pains in the collision when a red Newton Abbot-registerd Toyota collided with a silver Peugeot from Plymouth.

The collision happened near the Chercombe Valley Road junction with Ashburton Road at 9.30am.

The pensioner was treated at the scene by paramedics. She did not need to go to hospital.
