A woman employee has admitted stealing more than £4,800 from the South Dartmoor Community College, Ashburton.
Katie Brown, aged 28, of Mount Pleasant, Chudleigh, admitted two counts of theft and false accounting when she appeared at a preliminary hearing at Exeter Crown Court.
Judge Geoffrey Mercer, QC, adjourned the case for a probation pre-sentence report and released Brown on bail.
She admitted stealing £4,832.86 cash and a number of cheques between July 14, 2011, and January 21, 2014. She also pleaded guilty to falsifying banking envelopes between November 31 and December 11, 2013.
Brown denied a fourth count of stealing £6,935.59 from the college between August, 2013, and January, 2014.
David Sapiecha, prosecuting, said this plea has been accepted and the total amount of cash involved in the thefts is £4,832.86.
He said police were hoping to provide more details of the stolen cheques before the sentencing hearing.
Jeffrey Segan, for Brown, said she was a young woman with no previous convictions who is looking at how she may be able to repay the missing money.
