A ‘VERY BUSY’ week for Bovey Tracey fire crews did not go unnoticed recently after a local boy decided they were worthy of a thank you card, and – some biscuits.

In just a few days, crews attended a moorland fire, three domestic incidents and a commercial blaze in Ashburton.

Firemen at the station were surprised when young Fin’s thank you card ended with a PS note asking: ‘What football teams do you support.’

Of course, Bovey Tracey FC were the first to get a mention in a thank you message posted by the station.

The Bovey fire crew announced: ‘A massive thank you to Fin who kindly dropped in some biscuits and a handmade card to us while we were getting ready for our drill night on Tuesday evening.

‘In answer to your questions, we have had 11 fire calls – or shouts as we call them – in the past week.’

Dan Leeds, crew manager for Bovey Tracey station, said: ‘We were all very touched and extremely grateful for the biscuits and it was obvious Fin had spent a lot of time writing and creating his card to us.

‘We encourage all ages to interact with our crews at Bovey, we are a community spirited crew and station promoting safety, inclusion and community spirit. When restrictions are lifted we are looking forward to welcoming the community back to the station.’
