A HOME was damaged by a fire behind a logburner yesterday evening (Thursday) in Kingsteignton.

Fire control received a call reporting a fire behind a log burner at the house.

A spokesperson for the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: ‘Two fire engines from Newton Abbot were quickly mobilised to the incident and on arrival, crews confirmed a fire behind a wood burning stove.

‘Crews were able to extinguish the fire using one thermal imaging camera, small tools, a saw, and one hose reel jet.

‘The property was 40 per cent damaged by smoke and the fire is believed to be accidental.’
