FOR once the crew of Bovey Tracey Fire Station are hoping it will be a hot night when they hold their first-ever charity fundraiser.

The strictly over-18s-only event takes place at Bovey Tracey Golf Club on Saturday, September 1 from 7.30pm to midnight.

There will be entertainment from eight-piece jive band One Foot in the Groove, whose number includes an ex-firefighter.

The band will be turning out amazing blues, funk, soul and rock, and tickets will include a selection of hot food.

Money will be divided between the Fire Fighters’ Charity and Clic Sargent.

One of the organisers, Chris Boston, who is watch manager at Bovey Tracey Fire Station, said: ‘This is the first fundraiser we’ve staged, but we hope to make it an annual event.

‘We’ll see how this one goes, as we have ambitions to grow it.

‘We’d really like to make it a week-long fundraiser, with a series of sports and social events, ending with another party night.’

Tickets are available from Thomas’ Bakery, the Dolphin Hotel and the golf club.

Chris added: ‘We hold drill nights at the fire station on Tuesday evenings from 6pm. You can also can collect them us there if you prefer.’
