FIRECREWS from Buckfastleigh and Ashburton responded to a property fire in Buckfastleigh last night (Friday)
Fire control received a phone call from the occupant of the house in Elm Bank that she had a fire in her property just after 11pm.
On arrival crews found a well-developed fire in the first floor bedroom of a mid terraced house.
A spokesman for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: ‘Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the building making their way to the first floor bedroom.
‘Once in the room the crews tackled the fire using hose reel and safety jets. A positive pressure ventilation fan was also used to clear the house and neighbouring properties of smoke.’
The fire caused approximately 10% fire damage and 60% smoke damage to the property.?Crews at the scene said that neighbours kindly stepped up and provided the home owner a place to stay for the evening and they would like to thank them for their assistance during the incident, as having a safe place for those in need is a massive help to the emergency services at times like these.
