FIREFIGHTERS from Bovey Tracey and Newton Abbot are among crews tackling a blaze at a property in Lustleigh this afternoon (Friday).
Initially one crew from Bovey and two from Newton responded to the call just after 2:15pm today when smoke had been reported issuing from the a building with all occupants out of the house..
A spokesman for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: ‘On arrival the first crews on scene got to work with two breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet and one covering jet, but swiftly requested further assistance from another two fire engines and a water bowser.
Crews increased breathing apparatus to four wearers, with one hose reel jet, one 45mm jet and one covering jet in use and the building was reported to be fully involved in fire.
By 3.36pm crews confirmed the fire starting on the ground floor and had spread to the rest of the property and had added two thermal imaging cameras, a second 45mm jet and a triple extension ladder to the firefighting equipment being used.Continued the DSFRS spokesman: 'At around 4.20pm, crews stated they were turning over and damping down with two hose reel jets and that some appliances were now leaving the scene, although crews are still in attendance.'
