TWO firecrews from Newton Abbot responded to reports to a gas heater on fire at a property in Kingsteignton yesterday evening (Saturday).

Both appliances were sent to the location at Newcross Park just before 7pm.

A spokesman for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: ‘Once at the scene crews confirmed that a mid-terraced house had a fire in a first floor bedroom involving a gas heater.

‘Using two BA sets a hose reel jet and safety jet frefightters successfully extinguished the blaze.’

The gas heater was slightly damaged by the fire and the first floor of the property was slightly damaged by smoke.
