FIREFIGHTERS tackled a chimney blaze at a house in Hennock in the early hours of this morning.

An engine from nearby Bovey Tracey rushed to the scene just after midnight after a member of the public called 999.

The fire appeared to be out when emergency services arrived but used chimney gear and rods to make sure.

A thermal imaging camera was used to check the rest of the house and a neighbouring property for smoke or fire spread.
