A man from Kingsteignton is to be assessed for a drug rehabilitation course after he admitted dealing in heroin and crack cocaine.
Martyn Morrison, aged 41, of Prescott Way, Kingsteignton, pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply when he appeared at Exeter Crown Court.
Morrison had previously denied the allegations but changed his plea after police analysed phone messages which he sent and received.
Judge Timothy Rose adjourned his sentence and asked the probation and drug services to carry out an assessment of whether he would be suitable for a drug rehabilitation order.
Mr Rupert Taylor, defending, said Morrison was addicted to heroin at the time he committed the offences in August 2017 but is now using the substitute drug methadone.
He also has mental health issues and is receiving help from an NHS community psychiatric nurse.
Judge Rose told him the adjournment of his case for reports does not mean he will not receive an immediate jail sentence.
