A BADLY damaged crashed car was found abandoned by the emergency services on the edge of Newton Abbot early today.
Police and paramedics rushed to the Exeter Road area at 1.20am to deal with a single vehicle road accident.
A police spokesman said: ‘The matter involved a severely damaged VW Polo which was found abandoned in the middle of the road. The driver was not at the scene.’
Officers conducted searches of the area which led them to an address in the Heathfield area.
A man at the address, found with injuries, was taken to hospital.
The 39-year-old was arrested in connection with the accident - and for alleged possession of a Class B drug.
