A MAN was detained by police after a road smash just off Newton Abbot’s Penn Inn roundabout over the weekend.
Police were called to the St Marychurch Road area after a VW car was involved in an accident just before 6pm on Saturday.
A police spokesman said the driver suffered minor facial injuries in the accident which not involve any other vehicles.
The motorist was taken to Torbay Hospital for a check-up - and also arrested for allegedly driving under the influence.
