A MAN was rescued unconscious from the banks of the River Teign over the weekend.

Firefighters from Newton Abbot together with paramedics stretchered the casualty to an ambulance after after he was discovered at the water’s edge just after 10am on Saturday.

It’s understood he had earlier been in a distressed condition at the location near the hump back bridge at Teigngrace.

The man, in his 40s, was taken to Torbay Hospital for treatment.

It’s not thought the man, who has not been named, suffered any physical injuries.

Police were informed of the incident.
