A MOTORCYCLIST has died after his machine collided with a car on the St Marychurch back road from Newton Abbot to Torquay this morning.

Police confirmed this afternoon that the rider, in 30s, was from the Torquay area.

Emergency services were called to the scene at Daccombe just before 7.30am to reports of a collision between a BMW and a Yamaha bike.

A spokesman said: ‘The rider of the motorbike died as a result of the collision. Efforts are underway to locate and inform his next of kin and formal identification is yet to take place.’

The driver of the BMW was uninjured.

Road closures were put in place at the scene and across Great Hill Road and St Marychurch Road back to Newton Abbot.
