A YOUNG motorcyclist was badly injured in a head-on collision outside Bovey Tracey yesterday.

The rider, in his early 20s, was on a Yamaha 125cc machine when it collided with a Vauxhall Corsa on the Chudleigh Knighton road just after 6pm.

The casualty, who has not been named but is from the Liverton area, suffered fractures in the crash on the B3344.

A police spokesman said the accident happened after the bike had emerged from a slight right bend on an incline.

The spokesman said: ‘Officers were called around 6.15pm to reports that a white and black 125cc bike travelling towards Chudleigh Knighton had collided with a silver Vauxhall Corsa which had been travelling in the opposite direction.

‘The Yamaha collided with the front offside of the Vauxhall after exiting a slight right hand uphill bend. The motorcyclist, a local man, sustained various fractures and received hospital treatment.’
