A YOUNG man has been arrested in connection with the so-called ‘beggar boy’ incidents in Newton Abbot.

Police confirmed today that a 19-year-old from the town was detained yesterday as part of their inquiries into incidents involving nuisance requests for money.

The suspect was questioned and later released on conditional police bail pending further inquiries.

It’s understood that one of the bail conditions relates to restrictions in his movements around the town.

He will be questioned again on May 12.

Police received numerous complaints from townspeople about being approached with requests for cash.
