BO the inquisitive cocker spaniel is back home after being rescued from behind a garden shed by Newton Abbot firefighters.

The poor pet had contrived to get himself well and truly jammed in the confined space off the Ashburton Road late on Saturday night. Owners of the shed in Oak Park Road allowed the 999 team to remove the back to allow the mischievous mutt to scamper free.

A fire spokesman said: ‘He was obviously very happy to be free after jumping out very excited.’

The crew used lighting, small tools and ladders to extricate the creature who did not belong to the property owners. Subsequent checks revealed that Bo had been reported missing earlier by his guardians who were more than happy to be re-united with the scallywag. The alarm was raised just after 10pm.
