A KITCHEN blaze was extinguished by two Newton Abbot fire crews yesterday.

The 999 alarm was raised at 2.30pm in Broadlands Avenue where the affected property quickly filled with smoke.

Hosereel and safety jets were used to deal with the fire which was confined to an electric grill pan.

A ventilation fan was used to clear the smoke from the property.

Slight fire damage was caused to the cooker with some smoke damage to the ground floor.

A fire spokesman said the cause of the incident was accidental.
