A 20-YEAR-OLD Newton Abbot man has been charged with attempted murder and four counts of arson, following a spree of destruction in the town yesterday.
Connor Bunyard, AKA Connor Osiris, who lives in Seymour Road, was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday following the spate of damage along his own street.
He has also been charged with possession of a knife blade/sharp pointed article in a public place.
The charges follow the incident in Seymour Road just after 5am when a man wearing full camouflage gear and a gas mask and carrying a can of petrol reportedly carried out a series of arson attacks.
The arrest was made after two cars were set alight, a garden gate smashed down, and a blaze was started in a resident’s garden - damaging a model railway in the process.
An attempt was also made to burn down someone’s front door.
It is also alleged that a man who was trying to detain the suspect had petrol thrown over him
The man is set to appear before magistrates in Plymouth today.
