A DRUGS dealer has been jailed after police found his stash of heroin hidden in a shoe.
Marcus Drury was caught with £430 worth of drugs which he planned to sell to fellow addicts to fund his addiction.
The heroin was already bagged up ready for sale on the street when police raided his home in Newton Abbot last year, Exeter Crown Court was told.
Drury, aged 42, of Queen Street, Newton Abbot, admitted possession of a class A drug with intent to supply and was jailed for two years and six months by Recorder Mr Martin Meeke, QC.
He told him: ‘You played a significant role street dealing on your own account and you had been sentenced by magistrates for possession just three weeks before.
‘There are some indications you are tired of the life you live and your involvement with drugs but this is not a case where I can suspend the sentence and impose a rehabilitation requirement.’
Miss Janice Eagles, prosecuting, said police executed a warrant at Drury’s bedsit on November 27, 2015 and found him sitting on a sofa bed with his girlfriend.
She said: ‘A search was made and drugs were found in one pair of shoes and in a yellow tin. The tin contained six wraps and the shoe contained 30.
‘Neither the defendant nor his girlfriend would admit possessing the drug but he later said the stuff in the tin was his. He said the 30 wraps were not theirs but they had been threatened if they did not “do it”.’
Miss Eagles said the total street value of the drugs was £430 and the total weight was 6.26 grams.
Mr Jeffrey Segan, mitigating, said: ‘My client was only supplying a very close circle of people who he knew. He was not corrupting younger people.
He said Drury’s life had been blighted by his addiction but he is now determined to rid himself of it and has been assessed as eligible for treatment by the drug service Rise.
