FIRE crews from Newton Abbot were called to assist with a single vehicle road traffic collision in the early hours of this morning (Sunday).
Both Newton pumps along with a unit from Torquay and a Heavy Rescue Vehicle from Middlemoor were all mobilised just after 2.40am to reports of a vehicle having left the A380 between the Ware Barton to Eagle Farm junctions.
A Fire and Rescue spokesman said: “On arrival crews confirmed one vehicle had left the highway and was approximately 10 metres from the roadway in amongst several trees, with one casualty still inside."
“Crews used Hydraulic Cutting equipment, a winch, ladder and small tools to rescue the casualty who was then dealt with by Ambulance crews.”
