TWO fire engines from Newton Abbot, along with the specialist rescue equipment from Camels Head, were mobilised to reports of a man in the River Lemon off Bradley Lane in Newton Abbot this morning (23/04/16).

When crews reached the scene they confirmed one unconscious male in the water with a member of the public holding his head above the water.

Crews gained access to the river using dry suits and extension ladders and rescued the male using a scoop stretcher.

The casualty was taken to hospital via ambulance.
