AN ELDERLY woman was treated for the effects of smoke inhalation after a microwave fire at her Newton Abbot home over the weekend,
The casualty was given oxygen treatment by firefighters from the town who responded to the 999 shout just before 8pm last night.
She was able to get out of her smoke-filled home in Hameldown Way before two crews arrived at the scene.
A fire spokesman said the fire, which triggered alarms, involved a wheat bag in the microwave.
The property was ventilated after being ‘slightly’ smoke-logged.
Paramedics were called to check over the occupant.
